The name Voa Labs pays homage to founder Joël Sonderegger's favorite region on this planet, Graubünden, Switzerland. "Voa" means street in Romansh, a language spoken in the mountainous regions of Switzerland.
Joël chose Voa Labs because "the street" and surrounding buildings represent reality—where you find people who use digital products. Voa Labs aims to innovate and experiment while maintaining a human-centered mindset.
Joël holds a master's degree in Business Innovation from the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and started his career as an apprentice developer at IBM. During his 15-year career, Joël has worked with various companies, from early-stage startups to multi-national organizations.
Before starting Voa Labs, Joël was a Product Manager and Vice President at Sygnum, the world's first digital asset bank, where he was responsible for building some of the bank's core products.
